Whatever your experience of birthing your child has been, you are rare indeed if you did not find it a physically and emotionally demanding experience. And now so many births involve c-sections whether elective or emergency, the physical and emotional demands on women are exceptionally stressful, making it the most important time to allow space for healing, so you can care for your newborn as you intended.

Yet just at this most vital time to allow and seek support, our changed economic and emotional positions in the world can make it hardest to recognise this is important. Listen to your partners and family if they feel this is what you need - even if only once.

Biodynamic treatments aim to support you in the way you need - at this stage they can be particularly helpful for recovery following birth interventions (from episiostomy to emergency c-section); addressing past issues re-activated by birth; support with bonding; relieving distress after birth; and healing any traumatic aspect of the birth.

Your health and sensitivity are what your baby needs - healing at this time can support you to be everything your baby needs. Don't underestimate how much your self is your baby's main resource. Mothers who take the time to heal as a priority are not just healing the past, they are supporting the future.

Laura Irvine offers bespoke personal spas as well as post-operative treatment, including any gentle ways towards this that can be very important when you are so open from birthing (phone, meeting, talking to your family).
Practical arrangements can be especially complicated in the very early days – she is open to discussing the best place to meet, as well as recommending that you attend with baby AND additional family support so baby can remain close to you.
